To access the control panel, Go to start orb and left click. It will show a split menu from which Control Panel can be chosen.

The Windows 7 control panel provides applets to user to customize a functionality. These applets can be added or removed using Group Policy editor.

To add/Remove applets in Windows,

1. Type "gpedit.msc" in Windows Start Menu Search Bar. Hit Enter, to open "Local Group Policy Editor" or you may use “Win+R” key combo to invoke run windows and type the same there and press enter.

2. From the Local Group policy editor navigate to "User Configuration"->"Administrative Templates"->click "Control Panel"->Double-click"Show only specified Control Panel Applets".

3. A dialog box will open which has options to enable, disable, control panel icons. Click on "Enable" and then click "Show" button.

4. In the Show Contents dialog box in the Value column, enter the Control Panel item’s canonical name (e.g. "Microsoft.Mouse", "Microsoft.System" or "Microsoft.Personalization").

A complete list of canonical and module names of Control Panel items can be found in MSDN at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=122973.

Now you can add/remove control panel applets from this dialog box. This setting hides all Control Panel items and folders except those specified.

                          

The vision of holding a transparent mobile phone is very near to reality now. though many companies have already got transparent devices like digital clock, digital frame etc still the inability to get the transparent battery proved to be an hindrance in the puzzle.

Stanford researchers have been working over to invent a transparent lithium-ion battery which is as cost comparative to traditional batteries but is also highly flexible thus providing a  great potential for applications in consumer electronics.

The basic idea used in the transparent batteries was to construct the battery components too small to be seen by naked eye as these components cannot be made transparent.

As per the researchers Yang and Cui at Stanford university "If something is smaller than 50 microns, your eyes will feel like it is transparent as the maximum resolving power of the human eye is somewhere between 50 to 100 microns.”

They used a transparent rubbery compound known as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and poured into silicon molds to create grid-patterned trenches. A metal film was evaporated over the trenches, creating a conductive layer over which a liquid slurry solution containing minuscule was dropped.

The research devised a mesh-like framework for the battery electrodes where each line in the grid being as minute as approximately 35 microns wide. Since the light passes through the transparent gaps between gridlines the entire meshwork area appears transparent.

As of now the researchers aim to make this battery more powerful. One functional battery is created by placing an electrolyte layer between two electrodes. Battery can be made more powerful by adding multiple layers. Researchers are confident energy density of this transparent battery can be increased wit advancement in materials science.

Yang on being asked the need of transparent batteries replied, he would talk to Steve jobs about it.. as he wants a transparent iPhone.

Lifesize have recently been working with Microsoft and have now become one of the first video conferencing products to allow interoperability with Microsoft Office Communication Server 2007. This means that customers using Microsoft Office Communication Server (OCS) will be able to take advantage of the professional video conferencing services offered by Lifesize.

Yancey Smith, the director of product management for Lync at Microsoft had the following to say:

Microsoft is pleased to be working with Logitech and LifeSize as a qualified partner to offer customers more comprehensive UC solutions through interoperability with Microsoft Office Communications Server and soon, Microsoft Lync.

Compatibility

The integration of Lifesize products into Microsoft OCS 2007 is still quite new and therefore only the Lifesize Team 220™ range is supported. Similarly not all versions of Microsoft Office Communication are supported by Lifesize just yet although the major versions of are supported.

Functionality

Integration of the two products brings a number of features; most of these are geared towards simplicity and security. First of all a unified contacts list has been created which brings together all the contacts within the Lifesize and the Microsoft OCS contacts list. This will greatly reduce the time needed to find the desired contact. It will also bring a number of useful security improvements, for instance it will utilise Microsoft Edge to offer a secure Firewall and NAT traversal service and it will even have data encryption technology which will allow for secure communication to external parties.

Lifesize are well known for their high quality HD video conferencing services which is why it comes as no surprise that this system uses the H.264 video codec to bring HD video streaming services although a standard definition option is available as well.

The Future

Lifesize have mentioned on their blog that interoperability with other Lifesize products should arrive later on this year. The products that they hope to gain interoperability for are the LifeSize® Passport™, Room 220™, and the Express 220™. After this, Lifesize intend to extend the interoperability to other Microsoft products such as Microsoft Lync. Once released, customers using Lifesize products on Microsoft OCS will be able to easily upgrade their system to Microsoft Lync. Lifesize has already licenced the Microsoft RTVideo codec and is planning on releasing a server based product in the future.

My favorite tip is Translate Text in Office 2010.Here are the steps:

• Launch the Word Document.
• Navigate to Review > Language > Translate in the ribbon. On clicking
  the translate button in the ribbon three options will appear in a list.
• The three options that would pop up would be:
  ? Translate Document
  ? Translate Selected Text
  ? Mini Translator
• To translate the document in Microsoft Word 2010 over web browser,
  choose the first option Translate Document.

This would bring Translation Language Options where Translate from &
Translate to can be selected for different languages.

• After, the selection of translation language, click OK & a dialog box pops up to confirm. Click Send to continue.
• Thereafter, the translation result would be reflected in the web Browser.
• To translate selected text, choose Translate Selected Text option from the list that pops up on clicking the translate button in the ribbon.
• Phrases or sentences can be selected and Translated by right click on
  the text & then choosing Translate.

The phrase or sentence will be added to the translate pane on right side.
Click Go to search. A few seconds later, you will see the translation results
at the bottom of the pane.
