{"id":1394,"date":"2009-12-29T17:27:53","date_gmt":"2009-12-29T11:57:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/2009\/12\/create-an-invisible-icon-in-windows-7-taskbar\/"},"modified":"2009-12-29T17:27:53","modified_gmt":"2009-12-29T11:57:53","slug":"create-an-invisible-icon-in-windows-7-taskbar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/2009\/12\/create-an-invisible-icon-in-windows-7-taskbar\/","title":{"rendered":"Create an invisible icon in Windows 7 Taskbar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Like we can make an invisible folder in Windows, we can make a secret icon in task bar, that would be invisible and only the person who made it would know its existence.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"more\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To create an invisible icon it must be an application whose icon would be changed via a tool <a href=\"http:\/\/angusj.com\/resourcehacker\/\">Resource Hacker<\/a> which we have used in earlier XP days to change the start button and tweak the XP to its limits.(Credits to AskVG.com for the same). I tcan be downloaded and need not to be installed , just run it with admin privileges.<\/p>\n<p>1. After you have launched Resource Hacker, select the file whose icon is to be made invisible. For this go to <strong>File&gt;open<\/strong> and select the location of <strong>Firefox executable file<\/strong>.( Here we are taking firefox as the application which will be secret)<\/p>\n<p>2. Click on open button and it will appear like this:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/fox26.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px\" title=\"fox2[6]\" border=\"0\" alt=\"fox2[6]\" src=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/fox26-thumb.png\" width=\"438\" height=\"246\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3. Now click on \u201c Action \u201c from menubar and select \u201c Replace Icon \u201c, then this window will appear:<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong> Select \u201c Open file with new Icon\u2026 \u201c then go to &quot; C:\\Windows\\System32\\ &quot; location and select \u201c shell32.dll \u201c file to open it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/image-thumb8.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px\" title=\"image_thumb[8]\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image_thumb[8]\" src=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/image-thumb8-thumb.png\" width=\"377\" height=\"246\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>5. <\/strong>Now select icon number 52 and click on Replace button.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/image-thumb15.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px\" title=\"image_thumb[15]\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image_thumb[15]\" src=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/image-thumb15-thumb.png\" width=\"351\" height=\"325\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>6.<\/strong> Again you will need to replace one more set of icons, for this repeat the process again to open Replace icon window and <strong>select <\/strong>\u201c <strong>32512<\/strong> \u201c <strong>from right pane<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/image-thumb13.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px\" title=\"image_thumb[13]\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image_thumb[13]\" src=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/image-thumb13-thumb.png\" width=\"349\" height=\"323\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>7. Click open file with new icon, select \u201c shell32.dll \u201d and icon number 52. Click on Replace button. <\/p>\n<p>Press \u201c <strong>Ctrl+S<\/strong> \u201d to save the new file that will be having invisible icon and will be created in respective Firefox folder with the old file existing too under name of \u201c mozilla_original.exe \u201c.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/image34.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px\" title=\"image[34]\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image[34]\" src=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/image34-thumb.png\" width=\"454\" height=\"162\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>8. <\/strong>Now right click on \u201c <strong>firefox.exe<\/strong> \u201c and select \u201c <strong>Pin to Taskbar<\/strong> \u201c to make it appear on taskbar.
