Sure, you can use the Win+L combination to lock the screen, but that leaves your monitor on\u2026 and those of us with multiple monitors find it a pain to hunt down the power buttons all the time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"image\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/image.png\" style=\"border-width: 0px; display: inline;\" width=\"200\" border=\"0\" height=\"180\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>First we&#8217;ll show you how to simply power off <span class=\"IL_SPAN\"><input name=\"IL_MARKER\" type=\"hidden\">the monitor<\/span>, and then how to both lock and power it off.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Create a Shortcut to Turn Off <span class=\"IL_SPAN\"><input name=\"IL_MARKER\" type=\"hidden\">the Monitor<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To create this shortcut, we&#8217;ll first need to grab a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nirsoft.net\/utils\/nircmd.html\"><span style=\"color:#003371;\">tiny multi-purpose utility called NirCmd<\/span><\/a><span> from the great folks over at NirSoft. This Swiss-army knife tool can do an amazing array of tasks, including powering off <span class=\"IL_SPAN\"><input name=\"IL_MARKER\" type=\"hidden\">the monitor<\/span>.
