The Mini Translator allows you to translate single words or many paragraphs simply by hovering over the text that you want to translate. Mini Translator also includes the ability to Speak that text using Microsoft\u2019s Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine . Speak is enabled for Quick Access Toolbar and Customize Ribbon Options. Speak button can be added to either of these and quick access to Speak at any time can be made. Speak will recognize the language of the text you select and checks if you have that Text-to-Speech language, either from a built-in Windows TTS engine, 3rd party engine, or a TTS engine from the Download Center.<\/p>\n<p>In Office 2010 &quot;Speak&quot; feature is present in Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word. To enable it and add to tool bar or on the ribbon, follow the steps <\/p>\n<p>1. Open a Word or other application from the Microsoft Office 2010 suite. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image58.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"image\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image_thumb56.png\" width=\"644\" height=\"346\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. Navigate to Backstage menu by navigating to File &gt; Options <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image59.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"image\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image_thumb57.png\" width=\"644\" height=\"422\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3. <strong>Options <\/strong>window will popup now, Select &amp; click <strong>Quick Access Toolbar<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image60.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"image\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image_thumb58.png\" width=\"591\" height=\"484\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4. Choose <strong>Commands Not in the Ribbon <\/strong>option from the &quot;Choose commands from&quot; tab.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image61.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"image\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image_thumb59.png\" width=\"527\" height=\"327\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>5. Select <strong>Speak<\/strong> in the scroll box after selecting <strong>Commands Not in the Ribbon <\/strong>from the drop down list.&#160; After selection of <strong>Speak <\/strong>click Add &gt; OK.     <br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image62.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"image\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image_thumb60.png\" width=\"541\" height=\"382\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>6. To add the speak button on the Ribbon, Go to <strong>Customize Ribbon<\/strong> in the options window. Again Select <strong>Commands Not in the Ribbon<\/strong> from the drop down list&#160; &amp; <strong>Speak<\/strong> from the list in the scroll box. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image64.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"image\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image_thumb62.png\" width=\"592\" height=\"484\" \/><\/a>     <\/p>\n<p>8. After selecting the <strong>new Tab<\/strong> or <strong>new Group <\/strong>(Selected here), the feature name to be appeared can be renamed and symbolized by an icon which can be selected from the icon list which pops up when <strong>Rename<\/strong>&#160; button is clicked.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image66.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"image\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image_thumb64.png\" width=\"593\" height=\"484\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>10. From the <strong>Commands Not in the Ribbon<\/strong> tab, select <strong>Speak <\/strong>and Add it to ribbon by clicking <strong>Add <\/strong>followed by <strong>OK<\/strong>.     <br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image67.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"image\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image_thumb65.png\" width=\"593\" height=\"484\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>11.&#160; Now a new button would be added in the Ribbon at the place selected in previous step. To use the text to speech feature , simply select the text and then click &quot;Speak&quot; button. And the text selected would be narrated by the Microsoft\u2019s Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image70.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"image\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image_thumb68.png\" width=\"644\" height=\"255\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>13. To stop or interrupt the Speech, click the ribbon button <strong>Stop Speaking<\/strong> which has been changed from <strong>Speak <\/strong>button after starting the speaking.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image71.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px auto; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px\" title=\"image\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/windowsvj.com\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/image_thumb69.png\" width=\"400\" height=\"154\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My experiences have been OK with this feature. It was not very clear but a recognizable speech. Microsoft need to improve the TTS engine more.
