Microsoft Outlook is the a powerful and intuitive e-mail client software from Microsoft that provides a rich set of e-mail management tools to send, receive mails, manage your schedule, contacts, tasks & record activities and to help you better manage your emails. External email clients like Gmail can be configures to Microsoft Outlook 2010 so that these users too can enjoy the features of it. To configure an email account with Microsoft Outlook 2010 : (For illustration, I have taken Gmail as an example)

1. First of all launch MS Outlook 2010 application from the start button.

Application can be invoked from the taskbar in case you have pinned the same over there.

2. Navigate to File > Info category, here from the Account Settings option, click the drop down button and choose Add Account button.

3. In the next step, select Email Account, enter Your Name, Email Address, and Password and click Next.

4. Outlook 2010 will now establish a connection to the relevant network, search for Email server settings (in this case, Gmail server settings) and log you on to the server automatically.

5. Within a couple of minutes, Outlook 2010 would configure email server settings. However, you can select the check box at the bottom of the dialog box and manually configure the server settings too.

You would receive an email in the mail box that would be a Microsoft Outlook Test Message .

6. Click Finish button and you are done. You have successfully configured your email account to outlook.

Note: It may take a while to download your emails.

  1. I have tried the above steps even upto finished button but i didn’t receive the confirmatory text message and I can not send nor receive message with the Microsoft outlook.
