Mobile number portability (MNP), a much-awaited telecom feature in India, will finally start rolling out from November 1. Mobile number portability allows a mobile phone subscriber to retain his mobile number even if he decide to migrate from one telecom operator to the other. The basic idea behind the same is same number can be migrated to different carriers. This would raise the  competitive heat between mobile Operators as well to provide the best of their services.

The Telecom Minister Mr. A Raja Confirmed that MNP will be flagged of in the country from November 1, starting with the state of Haryana. According to Mr. Raja, the mobile number portability roll-out in Haryana is a partial MNP implementation, and the service will be introduced in the rest of the country through several phases.

BSNL has already confirmed Earlier in the year, it had the necessary infrastructure to meet DoT (Department Of Telecommunications) deadline of October 31. The date in introducing MNP feature for Mobile phones have missed the deadlines three times Since the government’s original announcement to introduce number portability in December last year from Dec to March 31, delayed to June 30, and finally to Oct 31.

Hope so we get to see MNP rolling out finally.
