Microsoft Office Labs have launched a very cool add-in for Outlook, called Forgotten Attachment Detector, which reminds you when you have forgotten to attach a file to your e-mail. The Forgotten Attachment Detector (FAD) is a Grassroots Project from Bhavesh Chauhan. a Software Development Engineer for Microsoft’s IT team. He created FAD as a side project in his personal time, and Office Labs is helping him release FAD publicly and collect data on its usefulness. Like other Forgotten Attachment Detectors on the web, when you send an email FAD checks it for keywords that indicate you’ve forgotten to attach an attachment. If it detects this, it notifies you and gives you a chance to correct any mistakes.

You need to download and install the following before usinG FAd :

When you forget to add an attachment, after you press the Send button, you will receive a warning like the one below. Now you can go back to your e-mail and attach the forgotten file.

  1. i loved this plugin on my previous computer but now am having trouble getting it to work on my new laptop. FAD shows up in the list of inactive plugins in the options menu but when i click on Go to manage add-ins and check the box next to FAD and hit OK the box closes and nothing happens – FAD just stays in the inactive category. any help? the new laptop is x64 compared to my previous computer which was x86, could this be causing problems? thanks!
