Google Chrome Web browser is equipped with a feature that makes it unique in this long run of web browsers. Just like Windows, Google Chrome provides a task manager which can be used to monitor memory utilization by various Tabs, extensions in Chrome.

The Task Manager also has an option to End Process which allows to Kill the Current Processes running on Google Chrome. Also included in taskbar some stats for Nerds .

Google Chrome has been catching up pretty fast in the war of browsers. Since its first release in Q4 of 2008, it has released 4 Major versions of the browser and is all set for Release version 5, with beta being released. Firefox a competitor from over 5 years is still has its most stable version as 3.6, which clearly depicts how fast Google is running. But they are not very sure what is a major release, instead of having subversion of Chrome they release it as next Version.

Chrome OS was recently open sourced by Google. It has been compiled and is available at few websites as well. It can be installed and run on Windows using Virtualization softwares.

The source code by self you can check out instructions at Chromium OS blog.

Also softwares like Virtual Box or VMWare can be used to run an already compiled Chrome image installed in a VMDK (Virtual Machine Disk).

gcm Recently i was having a discussion which is better firefox or chrome and one of strong point i used was absence of Add-ons in Chrome. I think google was listening to me , and few days after Chrome extensions were announced by Google. Google Chrome extensions are a great way to add more features and functionality to the browser. Sometimes, a feature is really useful for some people, but not for everyone. Extensions let you customize Google Chrome with features you like, while keeping your browser free of clutter that you don’t use.

Google recently had a press event to preview Chrome OS, its new operating system based on Linux and the Chrome browser. According to Google Blog “In July we announced that we were working on Google Chrome OS, an open source operating system for people who spend most of their time on the web.Today we are open-sourcing the project as Chromium OS”.

While the Windows 7 Beta & RC were being tried by public and there was a buzz around about Windows 7 , Google announced the launch of their OS Google Chrome OS to create another buzz.And the launch would definitely affect Windows 7.The Linux-based Google Chrome OS will be generally available to customers worldwide in H2 2010, but it would have not windows 7 RTM but Windows 7 Service Pack against it at that time to neutralize the launch its affect against Windows 7.

Google has launched version 3.0 for its popular web browser Chrome.There had been around 51 developer milestones, 21 Beta releases, 15 stable updates and 3,505 bugfixes before Google finalized version 3.0 as its latest stable release. Google updated the Beta channel of its open-source browser beyond version 3.0. In this regard, Google Chrome 3.0.193.2 went live on the Beta channel and is now available for download. The Mountain View-based search giant indicated that it introduced a range of enhancements since it released Chrome 2.0.172.37. In this context, users of the Beta releases of Chrome will be able to notice tweaks to the graphical user interface as well as additional horsepower for the browser’s JavaScrip engine. Anthony Laforge, Google Chrome program manager, indicated that Google “updated V8 to 1.2.13.2 to improve stability and performance. [Delivered] printing fixes and print selection for Windows. [Introduced] initial support for the video tag. Updated look and feel of the url bar (aka the Omnibox). Improved our Developer Tools by adding the scripts and profiles tabs, plus support for docking the inspector into the main window.”“Minor Tweaks renamed as “Personal Stuff” in the Options menu. Browsing data options added to the Options menu, under Personal Stuff. Default download location and font/language settings moved from Minor Tweaks to the Under the hood tab. Exceptions is a tab in the “Passwords and Exceptions” dialog, rather than a separate button in the Passwords section of the Options menu.”.

To Bill Gates, Google’s Chrome OS looks a lot like a familiar foe: Linux.

“There’s many, many forms of Linux operating systems out there and packaged in different ways and booted in different ways,” Gates said in aninterview with CNET News this week. “In some ways I am surprised people are acting like there’s something new. I mean, you’ve got Android running on Netbooks. It’s got a browser in it.”
